Christmas is already in the air!

It’s that time of the year wherein you’ll start humming Christmas Carols, decorate your own home, buy gifts for your loved ones and then pen down your secret Christmas wish list. This contains not just the things you desire to have this December 25, but also things you want to experience and places you want to visit before the year ends. You may or may not write it down, but you know deep down that a fun-filled and memorable Christmas celebration is ranked one on you special list.

  • City Fiesta – December 8 is always a special day for the people of Palawan as it commemorates the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary. The celebration encompasses Christmas activities which highlights the lightning of the giant and tallest Christmas tree in the Philippines. The tree stands 150 ft. tall and it signals the fast approach of the birthday of our savior.   The event also includes a series of religious activities, fireworks, food fairs and a tricycle decoration contest.

  • Paskuhan at Kantahan sa Kapitolyo – This event includes parades, and heartfelt singing of different Christmas Carols chanted by the talented Palawenos. This joyful festival is held at the Provincial Capitol of Puerto Princesa Palawan every 15th day of December.

Christmas will not be complete for the Palawenos without the customary Christmas traditions. Many will surely commit to attending the 9 days ‘Simbang Gabi’ beginning December 16 in exchange to His forgiveness and blessings. Certainly, everyone will attend at least one Christmas party and experience the excitement of giving and receiving gifts.

The streets will surely be filled with people lining up for that scrumptious ‘Puto bumbong’, suman and other rice cakes. Last but not the least, families will gather for ‘Noche Buena’ and feast on everyone’s favorite ‘jamon’ and ‘quezo de bola’.

More than 300 tourists a day visit Palawan to enjoy its many features and festivities. That given, this place definitely deserves a spot on your list.
